40-year old Elgin family business, Brittain’s Express Oil starts major building renovations

Brittain’s Express Oil and Lube in Elgin announced that it has temporarily closed its shop for renovations. The closure is expected to last several weeks as the facility undergoes major updates to better serve its customers.

Owner John Brittain shared the reason behind the project: “Starting next Monday, we will be closed for a few weeks to do a renovation project at the Larkin Avenue shop. My dad Randy started the business in December 1986, and over the years the building has started to show its age. We’ll be completing steel work, concrete work, and painting to refresh and strengthen our shop.”

Brittain emphasized the company’s commitment to its customers and community:

“We love our customers and community and want to keep things nice for them while they visit. Customers can check on our website and social media for updates and images of the renovation work. We will be sharing everything that’s happening throughout the renovation process.”

Brittain’s Express Oil and Lube has been a locally owned and family-operated business for nearly four decades, known for its reliable service and dedication to the community. The renovations are part of the company’s continued investment in maintaining a welcoming, safe, and efficient environment for both customers and employees.

Founded in December 1986 by Randy Brittain, Brittain’s Express Oil and Lube has proudly served the community with fast, friendly, and dependable automotive care for nearly 40 years. Today, under the leadership of Randy’s son John, the business continues its tradition of putting customers first while preparing for the future.
