Compassion is needed

The recent events reported in the news concerning the homeless, disturb me. The treatment of these people not only in Washington, D.C., but even here in Illinois is horrendous. I know this is a serious problem, but there has to be a better way to handle it.

To just force these people out without some place to go is cruel. Being homeless does not make one a bad person. It can happen to anyone.

The way a society treats the down-and-out says a lot about it. The reason many have in the past have received divine retribution is the treatment of the poor and destitute.

There needs to be more planning to deal with the homeless situation. Whatever actions are taken, they need to be compassionate.
