Elgin launches online platform for community engagement
Elgin has launched a new online platform to make it easier for residents to learn about city projects and initiatives and share feedback.
Engage Elgin serves as a central hub for information and participation. It provides multiple ways for residents to stay informed and get involved, according to Jeff Knox, Elgin’s director of communications and engagement.
“Our goal with Engage Elgin is to create a trusted space where residents can learn, engage and help drive the decisions that shape our city,” Knox said in a written statement. “It’s about making sure every voice is heard. It will complement, not replace, our current engagement methods, serving as an additional resource for the community.”
In addition to surveys, open forums, voting opportunities, videos and interactive maps, the platform offers tools for residents to share feedback, exchange ideas and become involved in decision-making.
Open projects now seeking feedback on the site include the city’s active mobility plan, climate action plan and plan for accessible streets and sidewalks.
Residents can also find information about active projects, including the city’s lead service line replacement program, the Elgin Sports Complex expansion, Dundee Avenue reconstruction, and the Route 20 and Reinking Road roundabout.
The city says more projects will be added regularly at engage.elginil.gov/.
