Wheeling AMVETS group wins state award

A Wheeling club for military veterans has won a state award.

AMVETS Post No. 66, which is based at 700 McHenry Road, was given a 2025 Commanders Award for Outstanding Post by the AMVETS organization, the group announced this week in a news release.

Participation in events that serve veterans, promoting community service and participating in activities aligned with AMVETS programs are among the factors considered for the prize.

Post No. 66 was considered among posts with between 100 and 149 members.
