Night of 1,000 Jack-o’-Lanterns expands to 15 nights
This year visitors will have five additional nights to enjoy Night of 1,000 Jack-o’-Lanterns, Chicago Botanic Garden’s popular, family-friendly Halloween celebration marking its 10th year in October.
Demand prompted the garden’s expansion of the event featuring more than 1,000 hand-carved, LED-lit pumpkins, some as large as 150 pounds.
Night of 1,000 Jack-o’-Lanterns gives people a unique opportunity to stroll through the garden at night, said Jodi Zombolo, associate vice president for visitor events and programs in a prepared statement.
“There’s always something new to see at this annual fall tradition, and we’re excited to offer more opportunities this year for visitors to experience with friends and family,” she said.
Visitors are encouraged to wear costumes to the event, which includes carving demonstrations, entertainment, seasonal fare and beverages.
The event runs from 6-10:30 p.m. Oct. 8-12, Oct. 15-19 and Oct. 22-26 at 1000 Lake-Cook Road, Glencoe. The garden will close each day at 5 p.m. and reopen at 6 p.m. for ticket holders. Advance purchase is advised. General admission timed tickets are $28 in advance, $30 day-of for adults and $20 for kids 3-12 in advance, $21 day-of at chicagobotanic.org/halloween. Member and VIP tickets are also available.
