Batavia’s Moose-a-Palooza brings back top acts to raise funds for Mooseheart children

The eighth annual Moose-a-Palooza Music Fest and Fundraiser is bringing back some of the fan favorites from year's past. All net proceeds from this event help the Batavia Moose Lodge 682 and their support of the needs of the kids at Mooseheart Child City and School. The Child City is a home for children and teens in need, from infancy through high school.

The community is invited to the music fest from 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Batavia Moose Lodge, 1535 S. Batavia Ave. in Batavia. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. It will be held rain or shine.

There is a $25 per person charitable donation on the day of event or $20 in advance via eventbrite.com. Kids, age 12 or under, are free. Bring your lawn chairs.

At 1 p.m., it will be the Moose-a-Palooza premiere of the Joliet Jakes who will be kicking off the day of music, fun and dance. A show band that plays the music of The Blues Brothers and rhythm and blues. They are on a mission from God to help support the kids at Mooseheart!

Back by popular demand at 3 p.m. is Jonny Lyons and the Pride. From Johnny Cash to Elvis Presley, to his own recordings, Jonny and his five-piece show band, the Pride, entertain folks all over the country captivating audiences with a stage presence and a touch from the past.

Also returning to the music fest is Ivy Ford at 5 p.m. Versatile, talented, and an old soul. From singing the blues to being sultry, Ivy is an indigo artist whose gift connects those who are around her and those who listen.

At 7 p.m., headliner Jimmy Nick and Don’t Tell Mama returns to the Batavia festival. He’s an old-fashioned guitar slinging blues prodigy with a mission is to expose the next generation to the blues. Driven by his Motown-tight band, Don’t Tell Mama, Jimmy excites crowds with his electrifying guitar work, fresh harp, clever lyrics and animated stage theatrics.
