Join Elgin Elks Lodge 737 in celebrating 123 years of service

The Elgin Elks Lodge 737 is inviting the community to a party celebrating its 123rd year of serving the community.

Stop by between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Elks Lodge, 139 W. River Road in Elgin. Come for free hot dogs, chips, soda, and play games.

Lodge members are proud of the community work they do and look forward to celebrating with you! Learn about its mission and benevolent programs, demonstrating that “Elks Care and Elks Share.”

Every year, the local Elks Lodge donates hundreds of pairs of athletic shoes to the Step It Up back-to-school drive at First Baptist Church in Elgin. Club members also visit local nursing homes to bring holiday cheer.

Earlier this summer, the Elgin Elks Lodge made it into the top 10 Lodges in the U.S. for putting together Welcome Home Kits for veterans without homes. In 2024-25, the local lodge did 100 kits.

Every night, thousands of veterans are without homes. In partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Elks National Veterans Service Commission has pledged to help end veteran homelessness, and ensure that every veteran has the safe, stable home they deserve.

Most veterans move into their homes with nothing. Elks help veterans establish their homes by building Welcome Home Kits. Generally, this kit would include some small furniture, kitchenware, and cleaning supplies. Items can be new or used, donated or purchased.
