ComEd utility expansion at Graceland Avenue and Miner Street

Road Closures Extended to Aug. 25

Commonwealth Edison is performing infrastructure improvements at the intersection of Graceland Avenue and Miner Street. Due to utility conflicts, the schedule has been modified, and work is expected to be completed by Aug. 25. The project involves the installation of several electrical manholes and duct packages to support utility expansion and will be carried out in two phases.

Work for Phase 1 required a full closure of Graceland Avenue between Miner Street (Northwest Highway) and Ellinwood Street, starting on Monday, July 28. This phase was scheduled to be completed by Aug. 15.

Work for Phase 2 requires a complete closure of Miner Street at Graceland Avenue, starting at 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 18. The construction is expected to be completed by Monday, Aug. 25. A posted detour will encourage southeast-bound motorists to use State Street, Golf Road, Rand Road, Des Plaines River Road, Elk Boulevard, Lee Street, Jefferson Street, and Graceland Avenue. Northwest-bound motorists will be directed to take Lee Street, Elk Boulevard, Des Plaines River Road, Rand Road, Golf Road, and State Street.

Motorists should anticipate delays and allow additional time for trips through the area. Drivers are encouraged to pay close attention to detour signs in the work zones, obey posted speed limits, and remain alert for workers and equipment.
