Explore arts, crafts at Arlington Heights Art Guild’s A Walk in the Park

Arts and crafts from more than 80 artists will be on display and for sale at the Arlington Heights Art Guild’s 54th annual A Walk in the Park fair on Sunday, Aug. 24.

An array of artwork will be featured throughout North School Park, including framed art in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, colored pencil and photography. Visitors will also find handmade jewelry, fused glass, ceramics, wood working and fiber art, including purses, totes, clothing and toys, organizers say.

The free event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the park, 410 N. Arlington Heights Road.

Voting for favorite artist takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the information table on the north side of the park. A winner will be named at 4 p.m.

One of the featured tents will be that of art students from Northwest Suburban High School District 214. The art guild awards scholarships every March to the top three students who enter their work in a contest. The art fair’s tent fees fund the scholarships, which are awarded in the amounts of $1,500, $1,000 and $750. Patrons will also be able to donate to the scholarship fund at the art guild’s table.

Food truck vendors will set up in the center of the park: tacos from Taquizas Ernesto, hot dogs from Hubby’s Dog House and sweets from Mellie’s Chocolates.

Returning this year is guitarist Jack Wilson, who will perform on the north end of the park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Members of the art guild will also offer their works for sale in the member tent on the park’s north side.
