Motorcycle club, memory care residents rev up a great time

For 70-year-old Susan Breytspraak, the roar of the motorcycle brings back fond memories. She shared her love of motorcycles with her friends during a “Wheels & Memories” event at Churchill Place, an Anthem Memory Care community, at 190 Geneva Road in Glen Ellyn. The group celebrated Women’s Motorcycle Month with the Batavia Moose Riders.

The motorcycle club donated $500 for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraiser. Breytspraak was recognized with a certificate for her passion, spirit and dedication to the open road.

“It’s important to remind our residents experiencing dementia of joyful memories from their past,” said Ismael Lagunes, life engagement director for Churchill Place. “They are able to experience happiness through their hobbies and try new experiences, even with modifications at this point in their lives.”
