Elgin Donor Club’s annual book review to feature portrayal of Lucille Ball
The Elgin Donor Club has announced their annual book review and luncheon. It will be held Wednesday, Oct. 1, at the Elgin Country Club 2575 Weld Road.
Author and historian Leslie Goddard will give a historical portrayal of Lucille Ball. In the 1950s and ’60s, comedienne Lucille Ball captured the hearts of television audiences across the nation. Her wacky hijinks and fearless enthusiasm kept thousands laughing.
Goddard brings Lucy to life, paying tribute to both the true comic legend and the real woman behind the myth.
Tickets for the event are $60 and available through club members. You also may contact the club at Donorclubofelgin@gmail.com.
Additionally, raffle tickets will be sold at the event. Doors open at 11 a.m., with lunch being served at noon.
Guests will be able to purchase cookies, breads and gently used books.
This philanthropic club, founded in 1913, donated all of the proceeds to local charities that benefit area residents. Learn more at facebook.com/ElginDonors/.
