Chicago Dogs even series with victory in slugfest

After losing Game 1 in Kansas City on Tuesday night, the Chicago Dogs looked to bounce back in Game 2 of the series, which they did, winning Wednesday’s evening matchup by a final of 10-8.

It was the definition of a slugfest, with multiple homers on both sides, very little good pitching and a few errors, but the Dogs ended up on top. Chicago went up with two runs in the first inning, thanks to a Chance Sisco home run. After Kansas City got on the scoreboard in the bottom half, the Dogs answered right back, on a 3-run homer for T.J. Hopkins in the top of the third, going up 5-1.

Kansas City answered right back again, putting up 3 runs of their own in the bottom of the third. In the fourth the Dogs made another push, scoring two on a Brantley Bell single, during which he ended up at second thanks to an error in center field.

Despite Kansas City adding one in the sixth and three in the ninth off of Dogs closer Jacob DeLabio, Chicago would add another three in the ninth on some small ball, with bunts, sacrifice flies and singles all around.
