More worthy art
Thank you for an “Our view” opinion that does not involve politics, but praises East Dundee‘s third mural project celebrating “community.” You write that the artist has received “so much positive feedback.” You extol the fact that there should be such feedback and reference “towns throughout the region, including West Chicago, Wheaton, Aurora, and more” that found local artwork has a way of evoking a community’s unique spirit.
Might I suggest that when you have time you make a visit to Naperville where you can find a whole day’s worth of our community spirit by viewing the 53 locations for public art which have been provided to the community by Century Walk Corporation over the last 25 years.
To get you started on this venture, visit www.centurywalk-artguide.org or stop by City Hall where you can pick up a free Public Art Guide which has pictures and audio for all of the stops you might be able to squeeze in. You might even find a reference or two to The Daily Herald in exploring this $4.5 million-dollar public art gallery.
Maybe after doing so you could write another opinion piece as to what you discovered. Readers are also encouraged to do likewise.
