What equal justice should mean

The U.S. Constitution guarantees equal protection and application of the law to all people, citizens and non-citizens alike. That includes:

• Paying taxes

• Obeying civil and criminal laws

• Following immigration procedures

• Facing consequences when laws are broken

Yet law-abiding Americans are held to a strict legal standard of paying taxes, getting permits, following regulations, while illegal immigrants face no consequences at all. This creates a serious credibility gap in our system. This inconsistency is more than unfair, it’s a direct threat to our democracy, our Constitution and the rule of law.

We’ve had enough. President Trump and Tom Homan are right: it’s time to restore justice, continue securing the borders and enforce the law equally for everyone.
