Even in divided times, we must show respect

My entire life, I was raised on one ideology: respect everyone’s opinions, as each person is subject to their own. But as I become exposed to more opinions, when does that simple truth become unfit? I see a pro-life advocate curse the name of a pro-choice advocate. Similarly, I see a woman with a blue purse refer to a lady with a red flag on her porch as a fiend. Are some opinions truly so wrong that the person who opines is as deserving as if the opinion were subjectively true?

I find one ideology superior to all, though: to each their own, as it doesn’t describe the relation of one to another. One advocate can disregard the person behind the opposite view without thinking back on the morals they were raised with.
