South Barrington police issued 89 speeding tickets between July 8 and Aug. 1 as part of a focused traffic safety campaign, the department announced Monday.

South Barrington police also ticketed five drivers for not having insurance, three for having suspended or revoked licenses and three for driving while distracted.

The push was part of a statewide effort and was supported by federal funding administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
