Man gets 11 years for disseminating child sexual abuse material

A North Aurora man has pleaded guilty to disseminating child sexual abuse material.

Aaron L. Latham, 46, pleaded guilty on July 30 to one count of dissemination of child pornography — depicting a child under age 13, in exchange for an 11-year prison sentence.

Kane County Assistant State’s Attorney Ken Hudson told a judge that on July 13, 2024, Latham used a social media platform to upload and share a video that depicted sexual abuse of a child.

Latham has to register for life as a sexual offender.

The case was investigated by the Kane County Child Exploitation Unit, a joint venture of the Kane County State’s Attorney’s and Kane County Sheriff’s offices.

Latham will have to serve at least 50% of his sentence, and received credit for 322 days he has been in the Kane County jail, according to a news release.
