Huntley church offers monthly dementia caregiver support group
In collaboration with the Alzheimer’s Association, Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley holds a monthly support group for caregivers of family members and friends with dementia.
This support group for church members and the Huntley community will continue on the third Tuesday of every month at 2 p.m. at the church, 10805 Main St. Upcoming dates include: Aug. 19, Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18, and Dec. 16.
The group is led by Donna Kelly, director of connections ministry at Shepherd of the Prairie, who has received training and certification by the Alzheimer’s Association.
Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Groups provide a valuable space for caregivers and individuals to connect, share experiences, and receive support. These groups offer emotional, social, and practical benefits, helping participants feel less alone, learn coping strategies, and access resources.
