Naperville’s Healing Field of Honor to commemorate Vietnam War veterans
Operation Support Our Troops — America in collaboration with the Naperville Park District, Naperville Responds for Veterans, and a number of other community organizations, businesses, and individuals, will be hosting the Naperville Healing Field of Honor from Nov. 7-12. The return of the Naperville Healing Field of Honor commemorates the 50th anniversary of welcoming home U.S. troops from South Vietnam.
During the week of Veterans Day, Rotary Hill on the Naperville Riverwalk will be transformed into a field of American flags in a tribute to honor all in the military. In addition to the flags, a replica of the Vietnam Wall of Remembrance will be displayed. The wall includes the names of more than 58,000 service members who gave their lives in Vietnam between 1957 and 1975. Those interested in finding the name of a family member or friend on the wall can search the virtual wall at vvmf.org/Wall-of-Faces/.
The Naperville Healing Field of Honor Committee encourages you to become part of this event by purchasing a flag in honor of those who currently or previously served. Each flag purchased includes a tag that you can personalize with a message for those being honored.
At the end of the event take the flag home, to your business, or present it to your hero to fly and continue the tribute. Individuals, businesses, organizations and church groups are encouraged to consider becoming an event sponsor as a way to honor and give thanks to all who served and their families. All proceeds will benefit the programs of Operation Support Our Troops — America.
Each 3-foot x 5-foot American flag can be purchased for $40 each if picked up from the field after the event. If you would like the flag shipped, the cost is $50 per flag, which includes shipping. Both options include your dedication tag.
Flags can be purchased by phone at (630) 971-1150 or by check, mail to: OSOT-America, 1807 S. Washington St., Suite 110, Naperville, IL 60565. All proceeds will benefit the programs of Operation Support Our Troops-America.
