State drowning in taxes
Since the media, including this newspaper, has chose not to comment on the movement by Governor Pritzger of 300 million dollars from the road fund to the general fund, I thought I would make sure I did. Remember in 2019 when our governor doubled the gas tax from $. 19 to $. 38 under the guise of rebuilding our roads and bridges? Oh yeah he also snuck in an annual gas tax increase tied to inflation. We are now the second highest gas tax in the USA and every year it gets worse. Now he has quietly moved 300 million of road funds to help cover the budget shortfall created by funding undocumented immigrants. Now our state democrats are quietly trying to approve a delivery tax on all online delivery orders (excluding drugs) totaling $1.50 per order. So when you place your amazon orders get ready to pay more. This is to try to close the transportation “shortfall” of about $750 million. Instead they should try to determine what has caused the shortfall (like empty buses) and adjust like any smart business would do. But no …. lets just hit them with another tax due to our mismanagement. That’s the Illinois operating plan. Just keep creating new taxes to cover up managements severe ineptitude and ideology. Misplaced Ideology will and is bankrupting this state. Wait till they create another and another and another tax to fund the underfunded pension fund crisis that no one talks about. No wonder thousands are leaving this state going to states that are fiscally responsible. That exodus can only mean higher or newer taxes for the remaining residents. Math by simple division. So keep voting for the same regime and don’t complain when they eventually get all your money. Socialism has never and will never work! One last reminder … has everyone forgot about the license plate increase several years ago from $100 to $150? Where’s all that cash going? Certainly not going to make appointments at the Secretary of State easier.
