Gurnee police apprehend occupants of vehicle fleeing Wisconsin traffic stop
Two Racine, Wisconsin, men are facing charges after Gurnee police early Thursday assisted in apprehending a fleeing vehicle.
Police responded just before 2 a.m. to a call of a reckless driver last seen near the shopping area off Grand Avenue and Interstate 94, reportedly traveling on two flat tires with its bumper dragging on the ground.
The vehicle was abandoned in a parking lot behind an AutoZone and three people were seen fleeing on foot, according to Gurnee police.
The three were apprehended after a chase that included a police dog.
The vehicle fled from a traffic stop in Wisconsin and traveled south on I-94 to Illinois, police said, and the flat tires occurred after the vehicle struck “stop sticks” deployed by a Wisconsin law enforcement agency.
According to Gurnee police, Preston W. Gandy, 18, had an active warrant in Wisconsin and Treyvontae D. Honeycutt, 21, was charged with resisting an officer. Both were in first appearance court Thursday morning. A third person was released without charges.
Details of the events that occurred in Wisconsin leading to their apprehension in Gurnee were not immediately available from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department.
