Beat the heat! Where to stay cool in Kane County

Kane County is expected to experience dangerously high heat indices ranging from 105 to 115 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.

\Heat-related illnesses can occur when the body can’t cool itself properly, leading to conditions such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke. These illnesses can be life-threatening, especially for older adults, children, and people with chronic health conditions. Symptoms may include heavy sweating, weakness, nausea, dizziness, confusion, and even loss of consciousness. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity, and seek air-conditioned spaces during peak heat. If you do not have access to air conditioning, visit a local cooling center in your area.

For a map of cooling centers, go to www.kanehealth.com/Pages/Warming-Cooling-Centers.aspx.
