Des Plaines police, school district to host National Night Out event Aug. 5

Des Plaines School District 62 officials and Des Plaines police will hold a National Night Out gathering Aug. 5.

The community event is set to run from 5 to 8 p.m. on the Algonquin Middle School campus, 767 E. Algonquin Road.

Police and fire department vehicles will be on display, a police tactical response team will demonstrate its skills and the department’s trained dog, Jager, will be on hand.

Games and other activities are planned, too.

Picnic tables are limited, so people can bring their own lawn chairs and blankets for seating.

Additionally, parents of Algonquin Middle students can register them for the 2025-26 term that night. Also, the Westerhold Early Learning Center, which is on the same campus, will host a community resource fair from 4 to 6 p.m.
