Palatine accepting applications from Citizen Police Academy

The Palatine Police Department is accepting applications for the fall session of its Citizen Police Academy, which takes place Tuesday evenings from Sept. 2 to Nov. 18.

The academy is an opportunity for participants to gain insight into the world of law enforcement and foster positive relationships with the officers who serve in their community.

The program covers topics including: use of force; body-worn cameras; vehicle stops; police dog and SWAT demonstrations; crime scene and major case investigations; gangs and narcotics; crime prevention; and drones.

Participants also will have an opportunity to ride along with an officer on patrol.

Applicants must be at least 25 years of age and reside in Palatine. Class size is limited and spots fill quickly. To apply, visit palatine.il.us/771/Citizen-Police-Academy. For more information, call (847) 359-9000.
