Chicago Grit cycle race pedals into Mundelein

Downtown construction forced the fourth stop of the annual Chicago Grit bicycle road racing series to carve a new course Monday in Mundelein.

The Tighthead Mundelein Grand Prix moved it’s 9/10th of a mile course a few blocks south of the traditional racecourse, one that features a 360-degree turn, and instead challenged riders to a two-block uphill pedal as part of the temporary course. Ten races, lasting from 30 to 75 minutes each, as well as a “Family Fun Ride” spun through the neighborhood bordered by Hawthorn Boulevard, Cortland Street and Archer Avenue.
