Kids can get free lunches weekdays in Wheeling this summer

Kids can pick up free lunches outside the Indian Trails Public Library in Wheeling weekdays this summer.

Lunches are available between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at the library, 355 Schoenbeck Road.

No lunch service will be offered Friday, July 25, however.

The meals are part of the National School Lunch Program and are offered here by Wheeling Township Elementary District 21.

Free lunches are available at more than a dozen other locations within District 21, including the Alcott Center in Buffalo Grove, Childerley Park in Wheeling, London Middle School in Wheeling and Riley Elementary School in Arlington Heights. For a full list, visit ccsd21.org/business-services/food-service/seamless-summer-lunch-program.

Other school districts and community groups participate in the national program, too.
