Attic fire displaces three people in Naperville
No one was hurt in an attic fire in a Naperville home early Friday, authorities said.
But the home was deemed uninhabitable, displacing three occupants who were home at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and undetermined, according to a fire department news release. Damage to the home is estimated at $75,000.
At 3:22 a.m., Naperville's Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting a possible fire in the attic of the home in the 200 block of South Columbia Street. Naperville Engine Company 1 arrived at 3:35 a.m. to the home and reported no obvious fire, but a smell of burning in the area.
Crews entered the structure to investigate and found a working fire in the unfinished attic. Department personnel used a hose line and extinguished the fire within 15 minutes of their arrival.
