Lake Country DockHounds get jump on Chicago Dogs early

The Lake Country DockHounds started strong Friday night at Impact Field, scoring four in the first four innings on their way to a 4-1 victory against the Chicago Dogs.

A home run from Ryan Hernandez got the scoring started in the first, and RBI from Derek Maiben and Aaron Hill extended the lead to 4-0 in the fourth inning. Howard Rodriguez hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to give the Dogs’ offense life, but they ultimately fell short.

The Dogs pitching was solid, especially the bullpen. Schaum left after three with the Dogs down 4-0, but Eric Lin, Zach Davidson, Michael Vallone and Brock Bell combined for six scoreless innings, giving up just two hits, and striking out four.
