Mundelein-area man facing child pornography charges

A 22-year-old Mundelein-area man is charged with possessing and disseminating videos and images of child pornography, many involving children under the age of 13, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

John C. Dressel, of the 21500 block of West Hampshire Place in unincorporated Lake County, was in custody pending a detention hearing Wednesday afternoon, according to Lake County sheriff’s Deputy Chief Chris Covelli.

Covelli said detectives received a tip from an online social media network that a user of their platform uploaded child pornography from a device in Lake County. An investigation determined the likely source was a West Hampshire Place address, he added.

Detectives and the Illinois attorney general’s office with assistance from Lake County sheriff’s electronic detection canine Enzo located and seized electronics containing child pornography belonging to Dressel of the same address, according to Covelli.
