Libertyville police seeking public’s help with recent vehicle break-ins

Libertyville police are seeking the public’s help to find whoever broke into several unlocked vehicles on the morning of July 11.

At least seven burglary reports were received including on the 500 block of Hampton Terrance; 600 block of Downing Place; 700 block of Seventh Avenue; 800 block of Liberty Bell Lane; 600 block of Valley Park Drive and 1000 block of Michaels Lane, according to police.

Two vehicles were reported stolen but later found abandoned near the homes. In some of the reports, someone took personal items including purses and debit/credit cards. However, most of the vehicles appeared to have been entered and searched without anything being taken, police said.

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant, lock their vehicles, remove valuables and not leave keys or fobs inside. Garage doors and entries to homes should also be locked especially overnight, police said.

Anyone with home surveillance footage or additional information should call the investigations division at (847) 362-8310.
