Chicago Dogs get bats working in victory
The Chicago Dogs kicked off their three-game series against the Lincoln Saltdogs with an offensive explosion, pulling away to secure an 11-6 road victory Friday. It was a back-and-forth battle early, but the Dogs’ lineup proved too much to handle.
Keoni Cavaco got the start for Chicago, while Nate Blain took the mound for Lincoln. The Saltdogs jumped out to an early lead with key hits from Clint Coulter, Neyfy Castillo, and Spencer Henson, putting the Dogs in a quick hole.
The Chicago’s bats woke up in the second inning, when Andy Nelson knocked in the Dogs' first run of the night with an RBI single. The momentum carried into the third, as Dusty Stroup drove in a run and Jacob Maiben launched a 2-run homer, putting the Dogs on top.
Nelson came through again in the fifth, driving in Chance Sisco with another RBI. The Saltdogs punched back in the bottom half of the inning, with RBI from Griffin Everitt and Danny Bautista, making the score 6-5 Lincoln.
