‘Help Feed the Need’ at Hunger Resource Network Golf Outing on Aug. 6
Residents are invited to “Help Feed the Need” and participate in the 2025 Hunger Resource Network Golf Outing on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Chevy Chase Country Club in Wheeling.
This fundraiser features a competitively fun 18-hole scramble tournament, lunch, a ball drop, a raffle, awards, entertainment, and a cocktail reception.
The golf day includes lunch, beverage cart, dinner, prizes, a contest, and amazing auction packages to bid on. Sponsorships are available from $195-$2,000.
Sign up to golf by Tuesday, July 15, for the early bird discount. Event sponsorships are also available for local businesses to support HRN’s mission in the Chicago area.
“The need for those who can’t find a way to put enough food on their table, especially healthy protein, is continuing to grow. It is critically important that we increase the number of people we reach with our ‘Poultry to Pantries’ program,” said Bob Tucker, HRN board member.
‘Poultry to Pantries Day’ is another important reminder that food insecurity has no boundaries.
It is the day when 160,000 pounds of frozen 10 lb. packages of chicken are distributed to almost one hundred food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters throughout Chicago area to help lessen hunger and provide much needed protein to food insecure households.
“Each half pound of chicken equals one serving of healthy protein. The need is so great most of the chicken is served that evening or within a few days,” said Kerry Smith, director of development at HRN.
Hunger Resource Network hosts ‘Poultry to Pantries Day’ events twice yearly in the spring and fall.
They are conducted at HRN’s headquarters in Northbrook.
