Gail Borden Public Library to host ‘Summertime Songs’
There's no better feeling than listening to great music outdoors on a warm summer day. Gail Borden Public Library is stacked with free summer concerts and musical presentations designed for a wide range of ages. From lively outdoor performances to more laid-back sets ideal for unwinding, there’s something for everyone this summer!
The Music Salon
Experience a dynamic and highly informative presentation on some of the greatest composers and their music with “The Music Salon” at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 15, at the main library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in downtown Elgin. This program of music appreciation will be led by acclaimed composer and music researcher Jim Kendros. Registration is required.
Summer Concert on the Lawn: The Illinois Brass Band
The Illinois Brass Band will perform variety of summer music, including pop, jazz, classical, film, Broadway, patriotic and Americana selections at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at the main library. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner, a blanket, or chairs and gather to enjoy the show! Roll N' Donuts Café will have snacks available for purchase. As a special bonus, Culver's of Elgin will be giving away a limited number of free custard cups, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is required.
Summer Concert on the Lawn: Soda
Get ready for an electrifying evening with Soda, one of Chicago's tightest and most popular bands! Soda will bring their energetic show to the main library at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 21. Prepare to move and groove as they deliver a fantastic mix of popular classic and current hits. Bring the family, a picnic dinner, and blankets or chairs for comfortable outdoor seating. Culvers of Elgin will be generously giving away a limited number of free custard cups, so be sure to arrive early to claim a sweet treat. Additional tasty options will be available for purchase from Sammy's Food Truck in the main library parking lot. Registration is required.
