Downtown Geneva transforms into outdoor art gallery for annual arts fair
Over the past two decades, the juried Geneva Arts Fair has risen in attendance and prestige. The fine arts show on July 26-27 showcases over 140 fine artisans from around the nation in a host of mediums.
Patrons can purchase original works of art and have the opportunity to meet exhibiting artists, learn the sources of their inspirations and ask questions about techniques from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Downtown Third Street in Geneva serves as a picturesque backdrop for the outdoor fine arts show that has been voted tops by Best Art Fairs by artfaircalendar.com and Sunshine Artist magazine.
Once again, the expertise and products of Plandscape Inc. will transform the intersection of South Third and Franklin streets into an Arts Garden, a comforting, breathtaking display of foliage and color.
Acoustic music will fill the air from noon to 2 p.m. Stop by the information booth with your questions about the Arts Fair, upcoming festivals or visiting Geneva.
The show includes free art activities for children of all ages from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Franklin Street behind the information booth.
On Saturday, Water Street Studios will present “Fireflies and Friends.” All ages and abilities are invited to create a fun firefly craft or drawing.
On Sunday, join the Geneva Foundation for the Arts to create your own screen-printed tote bag with artist William Estrada.
The Geneva Arts Fair is sponsored by the city of Geneva and Kane County Magazine.
