Stop by Healing Gardens, now in its 20th year, on July 13

Healing Gardens, a two-acre expanse of woodland and perennial gardens at Stone Hill Farm in St. Charles, will hold its next scheduled opening on Sunday, July 13.

The mosquito-free gardens are open to the public on set dates for the purpose of enjoying the natural wooded setting and perennial gardens. Admission is $5 per person and $10 per family. Call for discounted group rates.

In solidarity and to honor the journey, cancer survivors are free. Donations of time or money for upkeep are welcome. Healing Gardens is cultivated and hosted by Deborah Marqui, owner of Stone Hill Farm with her husband. Buzz Marqui.

Cancer-free from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma since 1996 and in remission from breast cancer since 2002, she finds great restoration of spirit in her gardens and property and wants to share that with the public for their own rejuvenation. Visiting individuals or small groups are welcome to do as they please. No activity is required or requested.

“It’s time to pick a summer bouquet of flowers at Healing Gardens. Flowers are food for the soul,” Deborah Marqui said. For a small donation visitors can pick their own bouquet of flowers to take home, jars and scissors provided

On July 13, they offer an optional outdoor, gentle Yoga In The Garden class (weather permitting) from 1 to 2 p.m. Ease stress and tension, relax muscles, increase circulation, or just pamper yourself with a day in beautiful gardens! Please bring a mat, bottled water and any other props that bring you comfort. Wear layers and dress for the weather.

Certified yoga teacher Danae Molitor leads a gentle and nurturing yoga practice. The classes are for all levels. For more information about the yoga class, call Danae at 847-307-9664. Register at healinggardensatstonehillfarm.com/events. The class fee ($20) also offers you admission to enjoy the grounds both before and after class.

Also on July 13, enjoy a “Sound Bath for the Body and Heart” from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Join Alyce Marqui for a unique sound experience incorporating meditative instruments and voice. This follows Yoga In the Gardens; you do not need to join the yoga class to attend this event.

There are six scheduled Sunday openings from May through October from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the second Sunday of the month. No reservations required.
