Fremd Sophomore wins big at the International Kung Fu Championships
Adam Feng, a sophomore at William Fremd High School in Palatine and a 16-year-old martial artist, has been crowned champion with four gold medals at the 2025 Golden State International Wushu Championships, held in May 2025.
The highly competitive event brought together top kung fu practitioners from around the world, but it was Feng’s speed, precision and discipline that earned him top honors. Competing in both empty-handed forms and weapon forms, Feng delivered a stunning performance that combined both traditional and contemporary techniques, impressing judges and spectators alike.
Feng has been practicing kung fu since the age of 5, with training in both traditional Shaolin style and contemporary Chinese martial arts. His mastery spans multiple weapon forms, including straight sword, broadsword, double chain whips and spear.
“This victory means everything,” said Feng, who trains under Master Song at Soaring Eagle Kung Fu School. “It’s a reflection of years of hard work, discipline, and passion for kung fu.”
Now in its 14th year, the Golden State International Wushu Championships is recognized as one of the most prestigious Kung Fu competitions in the United States. The 2025 tournament hosted nearly 2,000 athletes from 15 countries and regions, making it one of the largest international showcases of Chinese martial arts in the nation.
