Hanover Township seeking donation of school supplies, backpacks for annual distribution
Hanover Township is gearing up for its annual Backpack Distribution and once again asking the community for donations of new school supplies and backpacks for township youth returning to school in the fall.
Most needed items include backpacks, notebooks, loose leaf paper, pencils, markers, crayons, scissors, flash drives, pens, and glue sticks. Donations of supplies or retail gift cards to buy supplies are appreciated.
Last year, 2,552 backpacks filled with school supplies were given to township youth.
Supplies can be dropped off at the following locations: Town Hall, 250 S. Route 59 in Bartlett; Hanover Township Senior Center, 240 S. Route 59 in Bartlett; Hanover Township Astor Avenue Community Center, 7431 Astor Avenue in Hanover Park; and Hanover Township Izaak Walton Youth Center, 899 Jay Street in Elgin.
This year’s Backpack Distribution will run from Wednesday, Aug, 6 through Friday, Aug. 8. Registration is required. Proof of residency is also required with a limit of one backpack per child. To register, please visit hanover-township.org.
