Round Lake Beach police looking for hit-and-run driver
Round Lake Beach police are seeking the public’s assistance locating the driver of a pickup truck wanted in connection with a hit-and-run Saturday evening.
Police said the driver of the truck, described as a red Chevrolet pickup with a black hood, was illegally racing a white Dodge Charger on the 1200 block of Lotus Drive when they were confronted by a 57-year-old resident.
Witnesses told investigators the resident was behind the pickup and yelling at the driver when the truck began backing up and struck the man with either the side mirror or front of the vehicle.
The man was thrown to the ground and the pickup driver continued reversing from the scene. Video of the confrontation has been circulating on social media sites, police said.
The resident initially refused treatment, but later went to the hospital for knee and foot injuries.
Anyone with information about the hit-and-run, or either vehicles involved, is urged to contact Round Lake Beach police at (847) 270-9111.
