Sky’s Reese named WNBA All-Star reserve

The WNBA announced Sunday that Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has been selected as a reserve to the 2025 WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis.

It’s the second All-Star selection for Reese, who last season became the fourth rookie in Sky history to be named to the team.

The WNBA All-Star Game is set for July 19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

Kayla Thornton, Gabby Williams, Skylar Diggings, Kiki Iriafen, Sonia Citron, Alyssa Thomas, Rhyne Howard, Kelsey Mitchell, Kelsey Plum, Courtney Williams and Jackie Young were the other reserves named.

The reserves were selected by the WNBA’s 13 head coaches, who each voted for three guards, five frontcourt players and four players at either position regardless of conference. The coaches were not able to vote for their own players.

Captains Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier will draft their teams for the All-Star Game. First they'll chose from the eight other starters: Breanna Stewart, A'ja Wilson, Paige Bueckers, Nneka Ogwumike, Allisha Gray, Sabrina Ionescu, Satou Sabally and Aliyah Boston.

Reese is averaging 12.4 points and a league-leading 12.6 rebounds this season. In her last nine games, those averages have jumped to 15.0 points and 12.8 rebounds on 47.1% shooting from the field and 85.7% from the free-throw line.

She became the first player in league history to record four straight games with at least 15-plus rebounds after doing so from June 22-29, averaging 17.5 boards in those games. On June 15, Reese recorded her first career triple-double, notching 11 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in a win over Connecticut.
