Snow Owls to soar in Arlington Heights Fourth of July Parade
The Snow Owls, a local father-daughter group, are gearing up to take part in this year’s Arlington Heights Fourth of July parade with their float titled “Snow Owls Soar for the Stars and Stripes!”
The Snow Owls are a chapter of the Big Waters Federation, one of the largest parent-child programs in the Chicago area.
Nala, a young Snow Owl, summed up the spirit of the group: “My favorite thing about the Snow Owls is creating lasting experiences with my dad, meeting new friends, and trying new things!”
The Snow Owls are all about fostering quality time between father and daughter through activities like camping, hiking, fishing, museum sleepovers and fireside s’mores. The goal: create meaningful, lasting memories through shared experiences.
“Every year our group looks forward to participating in the parade,” said Chief Steve Oshgan. “It’s a memorable experience in such a great community. Our float this year celebrates Snow Owls soaring over the Stars and Stripes!”
The float features colorful decorations and a festive Snow Owl mascot.
“Walking in the parade and handing out Ice Pops with my dad and friends is a memory that I will never forget!” Chief Oshgan’s oldest daughter, Lila, said.
The Snow Owls extend heartfelt thanks to their community supporters and sponsors. Special appreciation goes to Jerry Reese for providing the truck and trailer, and to Jel-Sert for their generosity.
The Arlington Heights Fourth of July Parade begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, starting at Dunton and Oakton, proceeding south on Dunton to Miner, and continuing east toward Recreation Park. The Snow Owls invite all community members to come out, enjoy the celebration, and cheer them on as they soar by.
