Cast a line and learn new skills at free fishing clinics

Join the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Urban and Community Fishing Program for evenings of fishing fun at Lake Patterson in Aurora.

Instructors will teach participants basic angling skills including casting, knot tying and fish identification, while demonstrating ethical angling practices.

Participants can bring their own equipment or borrow loaner tackle and rods while supplies last. Illinois fishing regulations and site-specific rules will apply.

Don’t miss this opportunity to hone in and fine tune your fishing skills at these free Open Fishing Clinics located at Oakhurst Forest Preserve, 1680 Fifth Ave., approximately half- mile east of Farnsworth Avenue on Aurora’s east side.

It will be offered from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 10; Tuesday, Aug. 5; and Wednesday, Sept. 3.
