Person treated for minor injuries after Buffalo Grove apartment fire

A unit in an 18-unit apartment building in Buffalo Grove is uninhabitable following a fire on the roof Wednesday night, Buffalo Grove fire officials said.

One person was treated on the scene for minor injuries and released, fire officials said.

The fire department responded to a report of a structure fire on the 0-100 block of Oak Creek Drive at approximately 5:50 p.m. Fire officials said multiple callers reported flames coming from the roof.

Upon arrival, initial fire crews found a fire on the outside roof area of the building near a third-floor apartment balcony.

The fire was extinguished within 10 minutes. Fire crews remained on the scene for approximately another hour checking on building occupants, looking for hot spots and investigating the cause of the fire.

It remains under investigation.
