Wilke Road in Palatine closing July 7 for Route 53 construction

As part of the Illinois Department of Transportation's ongoing improvements of Route 53, Wilke Road in Palatine — also known as West Route 53 Frontage Road — will be closed beginning July 7.

Wilke will be closed to all traffic Claremont Drive to Victoria Drive. A detour route will use East Frontage Road from Palatine Road to Rand Road.

The closure is necessary to allow for storm sewer construction work on Route 53, officials said. IDOT expects the work to be complete and the road reopened the week of Aug. 4, depending on weather.
