Mundelein to host Horseshoe Tournament featuring Lake County’s best throwers
As part of this year’s Mundelein Community Days Celebration, a two-player team horseshoe tournament will bring together Lake County’s top throwers. The event is set for Saturday, July 5. Entry signup is from noon to 12:45 p.m. The tournament starts at 1 p.m. at Lions Park, 601 E. Noel St., Mundelein. New this year, the tournament will allow the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association’s new rules allowing 27-foot foul lines for seniors, women and those under 18. Fou lines for throwers older than 18 remain 37 feet. The tournament will furnish the horseshoes, or the two-player teams can bring their own shoes.
The tournament is just one of many activities happening at Lions Park that day. Families can also enjoy the 50-year “Old #1 Birthday Bash” located at the Heritage House Museum, featuring free museum tours, live music and the Old #1 fire truck. Just a short five-minute walk away is the Mundelein Days Carnival and Car Show offering even more fun for all ages.
Many Horseshoe Tournament attendees turn the day into a full picnic outing, bringing chairs, food and canopy tents. The event is free and open to the public, making it a perfect summer day for family and community fun.
