Fire leaves Algonquin home uninhabitable
No injuries were reported after fire broke out in an Algonquin home Sunday morning, leaving the residence uninhabitable.
Firefighters from the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District called to the 1000 block of Menoma Trail at 8:25 a.m. Sunday arrived to find heavy fire and smoke throughout the back of the home and spreading to the upper levels, officials said.
Firefighters battled the blaze for about an hour before bringing it under control, according to the fire district.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and an initial estimate placed the damage at about $350,000.
