Seigle Foundation renews support for immigrant and low-wage worker advocacy group

In light of the heightened pressures on the local immigrant community, Seigle Foundation renewed its support of the Farmworker and Landscaper Advocacy Project.

Its mission is to improve working conditions and opportunities, free of charge and without regard to immigration status, for low-wage workers and their households in the farming, landscaping, food service, and snow plowing industries through advocacy, community outreach and education.

Alexandra Sossa, bilingual chief executive officer, stated, β€œOn behalf of the Farmworker and Landscaper Advocacy Project (FLAP) β€” we would like to express our deepest gratitude to Seigle Foundation for their wonderfully generous support that will allow FLAP the opportunity to continue its vital work in Elgin-Dundee to empower low-wage youth for workplace success. Together, we are fostering a fairer, more equitable work environment where every worker is treated with the dignity and respect they deserve. Thank you for standing with us as we continue to uplift and empower our low-wage community.”

Additional education grants totaling almost $300,000 were awarded to the following charitable organizations: Alignment Collaborative for Education, Easter Seals DuPage & Fox Valley, Enriching Partnerships for Early Learning, Kids Above All Illinois, Summit School, Boys and Girls Clubs of North Central Illinois, The Literacy Connection, Clearbrook, YWCA Elgin, and Three Fires Council β€” Scouting America.

The foundation is committed to high quality education opportunities that prepare young people in the Elgin and Dundee area for success in their lives and career. This work may include (but is not limited to) early childhood education, K-12 programming, after school programs and community colleges.

In addition to Education, Seigle Foundation is focused on the arts, food and housing. Nonprofit organizations serving the Elgin and Dundee communities are eligible to apply. For more information, visit SeigleFoundation.org.
