Bringing Families Together One Inning at a Time: YBARP Continues its Legacy

While the Youth Baseball Association of Richton Park (YBARP) has evolved through the years, the mission remains the same — to develop young athletes, foster teamwork and strengthen community connections through sports.

The organization is gearing up for another exciting summer, focused on creating positive experiences for players and lasting memories for families, all while continuing its role as a vital part of the community.

“YBARP has been a part of the Richton Park community for several decades,” said Dedrick Richardson, President of the Youth Baseball Association of Richton Park. “The organization was founded by residents who recognized the importance of creating a safe, supportive environment for youth to grow through baseball.”

More than just a seasonal activity, YBARP plays a vital role in bringing families together and teaching life lessons to its players.

The Youth Baseball Association of Richton Park is committed to developing young athletes in the community.

“YBARP is more than just a baseball league — it’s a cornerstone of the community,” Richardson said. “For many of our participants, this is their first introduction to organized sports and being part of a team. The pride our families feel during a Saturday game day is something special.”

The program currently serves more than 200 boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 15. Its five divisions include T-Ball (ages 4-6), Pinto (7-8), Mustang (9-10), Bronco (11-12) and Pony (13-15). Practices and clinics begin in April, with games running from May through July. The annual T-Ball Invitational remains one of the season’s highlights, drawing families together to cheer on the league’s youngest players.

Support from the Gerald Auto Group helps make an important community program like YBARP possible.

“Gerald Auto Group has been an incredible sponsor,” Richardson said. “Their support helps us keep the program affordable for families by covering costs like uniforms, equipment and field upkeep. Beyond the financial assistance, Gerald shows up for our kids. Their presence at games and events reflects a genuine investment in our community, and we are proud to partner with a business that believes in building something meaningful.”

Gerald Auto Group is also proud to be part of an organization that keeps youth active and having fun in the community.

“Supporting local youth sports is very meaningful to us — we love being part of helping kids learn sportsmanship and teamwork while staying active,” said Donna Lawler of the Gerald Auto Group. “We are honored to sponsor YBARP because of their legacy and commitment to the youth and the community. It’s going to be a wonderful summer of playing ball!”
