Fox Chamber Singers join gospel choir in ‘Unexpected Beauty’ concert

The Fox Chamber Singers will be joining with The Assembly, a gospel choir formed by chamber choir member Daniel Hardy, in presenting “Unexpected Beauty” on Saturday, June 21.

The concert will present traditional classical choral music and traditional gospel. Each choir will perform separately, then join forces to sing together, all accompanied by pianist Andy Maya.

It will be 2 to 3:30 p.m. at Marmion Abbey Church, 850 Butterfield Road in Aurora.

The Fox Chamber Singers will perform: Paul Mealor’s “Ubi Caritas,” Javier Busto’s “Agnus Dei,” Paul Nesheim’s “I Will Sing of Thy Might,” Olivier Messiaen’s “O Sacrum Convivium,” Dominick Argento’s “Gloria” from “Masque of Angels,” Eriks Esenvalds’ “The Cloud,” David Brunner’s “High Flight,” Fred Rogers’ “It's You I Like,” arranged by Von Kampen, as well as Vaughan Williams’ “The Cloud Capped Towers,” “Over Hill, Over Dale,” and “Let All the World in Every Corner Sing.”

The Assembly will perform: “I Will Sing Praises” (unknown), J. Lindsey Williams’ “I Belong to You” and “Victory in Jesus,” “Lord I Know I’ve Been Changed,” arranged by Calvin Bridges; “Oh Lord Have Mercy,” arranged by Donnie McClurkin; Marvin Winans “Who’s Gonna Tell Them,” and Anthony Brown’s “I See Good.”

The Fox Chamber Singers are led by conductor Lisa Fredenburgh. Tickets are $18.50 or $15 for students and seniors; there’s a $1 online fee. Online tickets are available until noon June 20. Tickets at the door are an additional $5. For information or tickets, visit www.foxchambersingers.org.
