New location for Northwest Speech and Hearing Center
Northwest Speech and Hearing Center, a trusted provider of audiology services in the northwest suburbs for nearly five decades, has completed a strategic move to a new, state-of-the-art facility at 1100 W. Central Road, within the Northwest Community Healthcare campus in Arlington Heights.
Marie Vetter-Toalson, Au.D., who purchased the practice in 2023, assures patients that the relocation will bring only positive enhancements to its personalized care and advanced treatment offerings.
Dr. Vetter-Toalson, views the move as a pivotal step in the evolution of the established practice.
“We were able to secure a flexible, modern space adjacent to NCH, allowing us to expand our resources and better serve our patients,” she said.
The new facility supports the practice’s commitment to advancing care through cutting-edge technology and expanded services.
Key offerings include comprehensive hearing evaluations, hearing aid consultations, fittings, and repairs, as well as specialized care for vestibular and balance issues and cochlear implants.
Most notably, Northwest Speech and Hearing Center is one of only four providers in the Chicago area certified to offer Lenire by Neuromod, the only FDA-approved device for tinnitus relief.
“Tinnitus can be debilitating, and while it cannot be cured, Lenire offers significant relief. We’re excited to bring this innovative treatment to our patients,” said Dr. Vetter-Toalson.
Founded in 1976 by Dr. Mary Cay Chisholm, Northwest Speech and Hearing Center has built a legacy of exceptional hearing, balance, and tinnitus care while maintaining deep community ties.
Martin Toalson, director of operations, emphasized the practice’s dedication to upholding Dr. Chisholm’s legacy.
“Dr. Chisholm was a pioneer in audiology and a champion of civic and philanthropic engagement. As new stewards of Northwest Speech and Hearing Center, we are committed to honoring her vision while embracing growth and innovation.”
The relocated facility provides a more comfortable environment for patients and an improved workspace for staff, fostering the practice’s hallmark personalized care.
“We’re still settling in, but the new space is perfectly suited to maintaining our commitment to patient care and integrating the latest technology,” Toalson added.
Northwest Speech and Hearing Center plans to host an open house for patients and the community this summer to celebrate the new location. Dr. Vetter-Toalson also owns and operates Chicago Hearing Services in northwest Chicago.
