Des Plaines woman facing DUI charge in crash that killed aunt
A Des Plaines woman has been charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol after a wreck last week that killed her aunt, police announced Monday.
Giovanna Rodriguez-Fuentes, 28, of the 600 block of Colonial Lane, was inebriated when her Toyota Prius hit the back of a slow-moving semitrailer truck shortly before midnight June 1 on Algonquin Road near Leslie Lane, Des Plaines police said.
Passenger Nazly Rodriguez-Munoz died early the next morning at a hospital.
Rodriguez-Fuentes was charged June 3 while hospitalized for injuries suffered in the crash, police said. She was turned over to Cook County sheriff’s police June 5.
She is scheduled to appear in the Skokie branch of Cook County circuit court Wednesday.
